Longtime School faculty member takes the helm in fall 2021 as the first woman to lead the program
The UNC MPA program is pleased to announce that Willow Jacobson, School faculty member and Robert W. Bradshaw Jr. Distinguished Professor of Public Administration and Government, is the next director of the UNC MPA program. Her term commenced September 1, 2021.
Earning, spending, saving, managing—learning to work with money is an important skill that many individuals spend a lifetime cultivating. While money is often a source of stress for recent college graduates, a strong foundation in the basics of money management can set young adults up for success in the decades to come.

The School of Government is pleased to announce the addition of Emily P. Turner to its North Carolina Judicial College faculty. Turner joined the School in July 2021 and will be the lead faculty member working with the state’s judges, magistrates, and clerks on civil procedure, trials and hearings.
The School of Government is excited to welcome Teshanee Williams into its faculty ranks as an assistant professor of public administration and government. Williams originally joined the School in 2019 as a Carolina Postdoctoral Program Faculty Diversity Fellow, researching strategies to manage effective, efficient, and equitable policy outcomes through the public sector and nonprofit partnerships.

She will succeed William Rivenbark in this role and become the first woman to lead the program when her term begins in September 2021.

UNC MPA alumna and former School of Government Foundation Board member Elizabeth Biser ‘17 has been appointed Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). Biser took her oath of office on July 1, 2021 in Raleigh.
The School of Government extends its congratulations to faculty member and ncIMPACT Initiative Director Anita Brown-Graham on her receipt of the inaugural Andrea L. Harris Legacy Award. This honor, given by Triangle Business Journal, celebrates public figures continuing the work of its namesake to promote the minority business community in the Research Triangle area.
On June 22, 2021, the Public Management Research Association (PMRA) announced School of Government faculty member Leisha DeHart-Davis as the association’s new president.
