The Time Information Management (TIM) System is UNC-Chapel Hill’s official time capturing system used to track SHRA employee hours for accurate calculation of payment and to track leave for all permanent employees.

SHRA Permanent Employees – Non-Exempt

Non-exempt SHRA employees should enter their time daily in TIM and not wait until the end of the pay period. At the end of each biweekly pay period, non-exempt SHRA employees approve their timecard in TIM. Supervisors then sign off on the timecard in TIM.

SHRA Employees – Exempt

Exempt SHRA employees record in TIM only the leave they use. At the end of each biweekly pay period, exempt SHRA employees approve their timecard in TIM and print out the timecard. Supervisors then sign the timecard and send the printout to Human Resources who signs off on the timecard in TIM.

For SHRA Non-Exempt employees, timecards are signed off within TIM. A computer-based training for TIM supervisors can be found here.

Supervisors of SHRA Exempt employees physically sign the employee’s printed timecard and deliver it to Human Resources.

Leave Balances

The most accurate source for an employee’s leave balances is the “Accruals” tab at the bottom of the employee’s TIM record. Discrepancies in leave balances should be brought to the attention of Human Resources.
