Public Intersection Project
Community Problem-Solving and Visioning
Publications
Government leaders often want to shape the long-term direction of their communities. How can they do that effectively? A report on visioning processes conducted in Roxboro, Wilkes County, and Wilson County provides lessons on visioning and strategic planning.
This toolkit includes resources for facilitating discussions about how to help a diverse group of public and private officials, staff, and volunteers work together on difficult community-wide issues. The materials included can help people from governments, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, philanthropies, and businesses recognize shared concerns and act as partners in addressing community problems. Developed by the Public Intersection Project, these background readings and training exercises help participants (1) understand the nature and importance of cross-sector relationships and (2) develop skills to assess, document, change, and develop these relationships.
