Water and Wastewater Finance Strategies Workshop

This course offered by the UNC School of Government's Environmental Finance Center provides a comprehensive overview of financial and legal considerations for water and wastewater utilities. Participants will explore legal structures and financing tools such as user fees, system development fees, availability fees, special assessments, and other funding strategies. The curriculum covers rate-setting practices, introduces key resources like rate-setting and affordability dashboards, and examines methods for assessing utility financial health. Additionally, the course provides insights into state grant and loan programs to support sustainable utility management. Designed for utility managers, finance officers, and policymakers, this course equips participants with essential knowledge and tools to navigate the complexities of water and wastewater finance.

To alleviate travel hardships, we are opening this course up to remote participation. You can attend either in person in Chapel Hill or via Zoom. For those who have already registered, you may switch to the remote option if you prefer. The course fee is the same for both options.
