Sharon Edmundson is the director of municipal finance programs at the NC League of Municipalities. She joined the League staff after retiring from a 28-year career with the North Carolina Department of State Treasurer. She ended her career there as the deputy treasurer leading the State and Local Government Finance Division, which serves as staff to the Local Government Commission. Her other work experience includes ten years in public accounting and four years as an internal auditor. She also serves as adjunct faculty at the School of Government at UNC-Chapel Hill.Â
Edmundson received her BS in business administration with a concentration in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her MS in Public Administration at NC State University. She is a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and has chaired the Governmental Accounting and Auditing Resource Group three times. She also served two terms on the Committee on Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Reporting for the Government Finance Officers Association. Sharon is a graduate of Leadership North Carolina, Class XXII.
