Managing the Capital Case in North Carolina

This course provides skills-based training in capital litigation, including coverage of constitutional and statutory framework; pretrial issues; jury issues; case management; guilt and penalty phase issues; aggravating and mitigating circumstances; and ethics. Students also learn the “golden rules” of capital litigation to avoid reversal as well as best practices and protocols for case management.
