Parent Attorney Conference
This conference provides training for attorneys representing parents in abuse, neglect, and dependency and termination of parental rights proceedings. The inaugural Parent Attorney Conference in 2007 was a nuts and bolts training on abuse, neglect, and dependency cases. The 2008 conference will focus on a special issue for parent attorneys: representing the chemically dependent client. Topics will include the neurobiology of addiction, treatment protocols and options, special ethical issues with the chemically dependent client, attachment issues, and working toward reunification with a recovering client. For information about other indigent defense education courses, visit our Indigent Defense Education site.
Please note that if you would like to attend both the Parent Attorney Conference and the Juvenile Defender Conference, you must register for each separately. To register for the Juvenile Defender Conference, please visit the course webpage.
