Jesse White joined the School of Government as an adjunct professor in 2002. He is also founder and director of the Office of Economic and Business Development at UNC. Prior to coming to UNC-Chapel Hill, he served as Federal Co-Chairman of the Appalachian Regional Commission. A native Mississippian, White received a BA, summa cum laude, at the University of Mississippi. As a Marshall Scholar, he received an MS in international relations from the University of Sussex, UK, and a PhD in political science from MIT. He serves on UNC advisory boards for the Center on Poverty, Work and Opportunity; the Carolina Center for Public Service; the Program on Public Life; the Engagement Council; and the Office of Technology Development.
